Sheldon Cooper Spaghetti with Cut Up Hot Dogs

Yes! On The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon Cooper often mentioned (and ate) his very particular comfort food: spaghetti with cut-up hot dogs. It’s simple, very much in line with his childlike food preferences, and has become a little iconic among fans.

Here’s a recipe inspired by what Sheldon eats on the show:

🍝 Sheldon’s Spaghetti with Cut-Up Hot Dogs

Ingredients (serves 2–3):

  • 8 oz (225 g) spaghetti (or your preferred pasta)
  • 4–6 hot dogs (beef or your choice)
  • 2 cups tomato-based pasta sauce (Sheldon would probably prefer something plain and consistent, like jarred marinara)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Grated Parmesan (optional, but not typically “Sheldon-approved”)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the pasta: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain, but reserve about ½ cup of the pasta water.

  2. Prepare the hot dogs: Slice hot dogs into ½-inch pieces (Sheldon’s are usually bite-sized “coins”).

  3. Cook hot dogs: In a skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add the hot dog pieces and sauté until lightly browned.

  4. Add sauce: Pour in the tomato sauce and stir. Let simmer 5–7 minutes, adding a splash of pasta water if it gets too thick.

  5. Combine: Toss the drained spaghetti with the hot dog–tomato sauce mixture until coated.

  6. Serve: Plate it up just as Sheldon likes—plain, no fancy garnishes. Parmesan on the side if you’re not bound by his quirks.

👨‍🍳 Optional “Sheldon Accuracy” Notes:

  • He’s picky about routines, so the sauce should taste the same every time (a store-bought brand would suit him).
  • He usually avoids “green bits” (so no basil or herbs).
  • Some fans even make it with just plain spaghetti, sliced hot dogs, and ketchup—because Sheldon likes simple, predictable flavors.
