Apple Crisp
Apple crisp is basically fall wrapped in a cozy blanket and baked until your house smells like a hug. Let’s make one that hits that perfect sweet-but-not-too-sweet, buttery-crunchy-top jackpot.
🍎 Classic Apple Crisp
Ingredients
Filling:
6 cups apples (about 5–7 medium), peeled & sliced
(Granny Smith = tart, Honeycrisp = sweet… mix them like a flavor DJ 🎧)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp flour
Pinch of salt
Crisp Topping:
3/4 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup cold butter (cubed)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
(Translation: warm up the apple spa.)
Make the filling:
Toss apples with brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and salt.
Pour into a greased baking dish.
Make the topping:
Mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Cut in the butter (use fingers or a fork) until crumbly—like delicious sand you’re legally allowed to eat.
Assemble:
Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
Bake:
40–45 minutes, until bubbling and golden brown on top.
Cool slightly (if you can resist the siren call).
Serving Suggestions (a.k.a. Level-Up Mode)
Vanilla ice cream melting into it = legendary
Whipped cream = classy move
Drizzle of caramel sauce = you woke up and chose decadence
Pro Tips
Leave some apple slices thicker for texture—nobody likes mushy apple soup.
Want extra crunch? Toss in chopped pecans or walnuts.
Feeling rebellious? Add a splash of maple syrup to the filling. 😄

I always thought that Apple Crisp was some sort of Mystery Gift from the cooks to the crew when I sailed on our Canadian War Ships. Turns out, it was an easy way to get rid of apples that were turning soft.
Comment and suggestions are ALWAYS welcome
