π₯π Tonya’s Fix: Spicy Spaghetti Sauce (FORGE) — Upgraded
“It’s cold out…
so we’re building flavor the right way. ππ₯
π§ You’ll Need:
The base:
1 lb ground beef or sausage
1 can crushed tomatoes (or jarred sauce)
1–2 tbsp FORGE BBQ Seasoning
Olive oil
The upgrade (this is the move):
1 small onion (finely diced)
1–2 ribs celery (finely diced)
1 small carrot (optional but recommended)
1/2 bell pepper (diced)
π That’s your soffritto base
Extras:
2–3 cloves garlic
Splash of red wine (optional… but you’ve got the glass already π)
π₯ What To Do:
1. Build the soffritto (don’t rush this)
π Oil in pan, medium heat
π Add onion + celery + carrot + pepper
π Cook 8–10 minutes until soft and slightly golden
π This is your flavor foundation
2. Add garlic last
π 30 seconds, just until fragrant
π Don’t burn it
3. Brown the meat
π Add beef/sausage right into the soffritto
π Break it up, get some colour
π Now you’ve got depth + richness
4. Bring the heat (FORGE time)
π Add FORGE seasoning
π Let it toast in the pan for a minute
π This step makes the spice bloom
5. Deglaze (optional but π₯)
π Splash of red wine
π Scrape up all the good bits
6. Sauce & simmer
π Add tomatoes
π Stir, reduce heat
π Simmer 30–45 minutes
(Longer = deeper flavor)
π Tonya Tip:
If you’re thinking about adding sugar…
you didn’t cook the soffritto long enough.
π Serve It Like You Mean It
Over pasta
Fresh parm
Crusty bread (you’ve got the baguette π)
π¬ “Same sauce… big difference.” π₯π
π Tag the one who still adds sugar to sauce
π We’re upgrading kitchens today
Trust me… it needs this.
