ππ₯ Tonya’s Fix: Smash Burgers (COAL)
“Everyone says they make good burgers…
very few actually do. ππ₯
If your burgers have ever been:
thick and dry
grey instead of crispy
“meh”
We’re fixing that.
π§ You’ll Need:
1 lb ground beef (80/20 — don’t argue this)
COAL BBQ Seasoning
4 burger buns
4 slices cheese (American = best melt)
Optional: pickles, onions, sauce
π₯ What To Do:
1. Divide, don’t overthink it
π Split into 4 loose balls
π DO NOT pack them tight
2. Get your pan screaming hot
π Cast iron if you have it
π This is not medium heat territory
3. Smash time
π Drop the ball on the pan
π Smash it thin (really thin)
π Season immediately with COAL
4. Leave it alone
π This is where people mess up
π Let it cook 2–3 minutes
π You want crispy, lacy edges
5. Flip once
π Season again lightly
π Add cheese
π Cook another 60–90 seconds
6. Build it right
π Toasted bun (don’t skip this)
π Stack it high
π Keep it simple
π Tonya Tip:
If it didn’t make a mess…
you didn’t do it right.
π¬ The Close
“Same burger… big difference.” π₯
π Tag the one who presses burgers with a spatula halfway through cooking (we need to talk)
π Or the one who thinks thicker = better (it doesn’t π)
Trust me… it needs this.
