A cast iron skillet works beautifully 👍
And yes, there is a great stovetop method for this apple–cinnamon–raisin–pecan oatmeal bake.
Here’s how to do it in a skillet on the stove:
🍎 Stovetop Skillet Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
(Cast iron or heavy nonstick pan)
Ingredients
1 cup oats
150 ml milk
2 apples, diced
2 eggs
20 g melted butter
½ tsp vanilla
1–1½ tsp cinnamon
⅓ cup raisins
¼ cup chopped pecans
Directions (Stovetop)
Heat the skillet
Place a 10–12 inch cast iron skillet over medium-low heat. Lightly grease with butter.
Sauté apples
Add diced apples with a tiny knob of butter. Cook 3–4 minutes until just starting to soften.
Mix everything
In a bowl, whisk:
Eggs
Milk
Melted butter
Vanilla
Stir in oats, cinnamon, raisins, and pecans.
Combine in skillet
Pour the oat mixture over the apples. Gently spread it evenly.
Cover & cook
Reduce heat to low, cover with a lid, and cook 15–20 minutes.
You’re looking for the center to be set and no longer liquid.
Optional finish
If you want a lightly crisp bottom, uncover and cook 2–3 more minutes.
Rest & serve
Let it sit 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
🔥 Why cast iron is great:
It holds steady heat and gives you that lightly toasted bottom — kind of like oatmeal-meets-apple-cake 😄
