Utah French Fry Sauce

Utah’s famous French Fry Sauce is a creamy, tangy, slightly sweet dipping sauce that’s a staple at burger joints across the state. It's kind of like ketchup and mayo had a delicious baby—with a few extras thrown in.

Here’s a classic Utah Fry Sauce recipe:


🍟 Utah Fry Sauce (Classic Version)

🧂 Ingredients:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar (or pickle juice)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional but gives a nice depth)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

🥣 Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise and ketchup until smooth.
  2. Stir in vinegar, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Chill for 20–30 minutes (optional, but helps flavors meld).
  5. Serve with fries, burgers, onion rings, or even chicken tenders!

🔄 Variations:

  • Zesty: Add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne.
  • Sweet: Mix in ½ teaspoon of sugar or use Miracle Whip instead of mayo.
  • Chunky: Add a teaspoon of sweet pickle relish.
  • Creamier: Add a splash of buttermilk or sour cream.
